With the PlayStation Plus lineup of free games in October proving controversial with some fans, next month is already shaping up to be very different.
A new announcement from Sony has confirmed that the November PS Plus games lineup will include an extra three titles on top of the usual number for PS4 and PS5.
This means that there could be between five or six free games to download next month, which is a huge increase.
The reason behind this is Sony wants to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the PlayStation VR headset.
The system has proven very popular with gamers and has sold millions of units since it was launched.
Virtual Reality is littered with failed devices and concepts, but PSVR has done so well that an upgraded headset is in development.
This won’t arrive until 2022 at the earliest and even then, there is no guarantee that there will be enough stock to go around.
But for gamers who have a PSVR headset, November is going to be a great month. And even for those who don’t, there is no reason why you should add these games to your account.
While you might not be able to play them as intended yet, there could come a time when you decide to pick a PlayStation VR device, and you’ll already have three games in your library.
The announcement from Sony does not confirm which games will be included but did provide this information:
“Since the PS VR launch, we have seen a diverse range of unique experiences that showcase a sense of presence we set out to achieve with this platform, including critically acclaimed games such as the thrilling sights and sounds action shooter Rez Infinite, the epic rescue mission platformer Astro Bot Rescue Mission, and the stealth action of Hitman 3.”
We don’t know what free VR games will be included in Sony’s list but we do have a pretty good idea when the lineup will be announced.
The tech giant is expected to reveal its plans for PlayStation Plus in November on October 27, the last Wednesday of the month.
This will be followed by those five or six free games being released on November 2, the first Tuesday of the new month.
And as mentioned above, while there will be a lot of VR games to download, there will also be the usual two PS4 games included.
PlayStation VR is backward compatible with PS5, meaning it’s worth downloading these new games if you own that console too.
