Adele stunned her fans earlier this week with the announcement that she will be dropping a brand new single on October 15. This track leads into the upcoming album – which will be titled 30 – and will focus a lot on her recent divorce.
Adele split with her husband Simon Konecki in 2020 after being together for an unknown amount of years.
Together, the pair had a son, Angelo, who Adele has said she “recorded her new album for”.
She explained: “My son has had a lot of questions. Really good questions, really innocent questions, that I just don’t have an answer for. [Like]: ‘Why can’t you still live together?’
“I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness.” (Via Vogue)
Adele candidly added: “It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal.”
On why she decided to bring an end to her marriage, the 33-year-old confessed: “It just wasn’t right for me anymore.
“I didn’t want to end up like a lot of other people I knew. It wasn’t miserable miserable, but I would have been miserable had I not put myself first.”
She reiterated: “But, yeah, nothing bad happened or anything like that.”
Adele’s comeback has already sparked a lot of excitement in the music industry.
As soon as her new song was announced, the odds on her headlining Glastonbury 2022 were slashed drastically.
The star’s odds were slashed to 1/2 on claiming the top spot from Coral.
This places her at the same level as one of The Beatles.
Sir Paul McCartney currently also has 1/2 on becoming the next Glasto headliner.
The firm’s John hill commented: “We have seen strong support on the British star playing Glastonbury in 2022 following the release of her new single.”
Adele has played Glastonbury twice before; once in 2007 at an acoustic set, and a headline spot in 2016.
